Small Nothing

I’ve been taking photographs of ‘dead’ animals since moving to North Fife in 2008. I now live in Edinburgh and I rarely see animal death in the street.

I call this series Small Nothing but that doesn’t mean I consider the subject to be inconsequential. For me ‘nothing’ means ‘something’ and ‘something’ is important.

As far as I can see, these photographs depict a once-living-animal in a state of transformation. Hence the question: who or what is the ‘subject’ of these photographs?
